Damaru Music

Damaru is a cross over album by singer Isheeta Ganguly which was launched recently in Mumbai and will be released in the New York City with the Indo American Arts Council in October, 2010. 'Damaru’ features tracks by Shantanu Moitra, Grammy award winning percussionist, Tanmoy Bose, an NY based elektronika producer Phil Levy. The album is a blend of Indian folk-pop, classical, lounge, elektronica, and RabindraSangeet (Songs by Rabindranath Tagore) and presented by the fusion singer in her own signature style. The tracks also include guest performances by percussionists Tanmoy Bose & Bickram Ghosh. One of the tracks of the album, ‘Vande Mataram’ features Bollywood actor John Abraham’s recital of one of Tagore’s poems from ‘Gitanjali’.

The different tracks in the album reflect the singer’s proficiency in Western as well as Indian styles of singing. The album has multi lingual with songs in English, Hindi and Bengali.
