Synopsis:
Indian film composer Rahul Dev Burman (popularly known as Pancham) placed his own special stamp on the Indian film music of the late sixties. And almost a decade after his passing, his music continues to have an ardent following as well as a lasting influence on the style and technique of music composers in Indian cinema today. Pancham Unmixed explores Burman's life and persona, with anecdotes from his closest friends and colleagues that throw light on the inner workings of one of the key foundations of Indian cinema idioms, and its make-or-break role in a film’s commercial success. Director: Brahmanand Singh
A Bombay-based writer and filmmaker, Brahmanand Singh has published stories, poems and essays in India and abroad, written screenplays and made documentaries and short films.
Pre-eminent among his documentaries are Ashgari Bai (on an octogenarian legendary dhrupad singer), A Burden of Love (on Alzheimer's disease), Uncaging the Body (Apsara Award for the Best Short Film 2003-2004) and Ragpickers, scavengers of a different graveyard. In addition, he has made innumerable commissioned corporate documentaries and other short films.
Many of his films screened at various International film festivals as well as on national and international television channels, have been nominated for and won awards. Other than filmmaking, he has also written music, cinema and literature. |
