In turbulent India of the Emergency in the 1970's , four friends on the threshold of their teenage years in a little Indian school, gather in they're beloved adda to deliberate the everyday's of school and life. Little do they know, that by the end of this academic year, their lives will take a turn as they never expected it to. . . "Shala" (School) is every person's story. It is for every person who has been to school, and loved and lost his love. It is a story of love, of circumstance, of passion, friendship and freedom.

Sujay DahakeSujay Dahake was born in Pune, on the 26th Jan 1985 and passed out from a Pune based private mass communication institute. His diploma film “On the razor’s edge” a documentary on homeless people in Pune was screened at ‘International Digital Film festival, Delhi’. Sujay also worked with Fashion TV (FTV) Asia as a fashion photographer. During his months contract with FTV he shot 6 super models and was also featured in the program called ‘Photographers’ on FTV. Sujay also served as an ‘Associate Producer’ in a Hollywood production studio called ‘Bigfoot Entertainment’ under a 6 months contract. He also got a chance to be the Associate Producer on 2 Hollywood films ‘Deep Gold’ & ‘Victim of circumstance’. He also conducts special workshops on cinema analysis and Editing in a Pune based private film Institute. Sujay at the age of 25 directed his first film “SHALA” Based on the novel by Milind Bokil.

Mukesh Born in Chennai India, Mukesh immigrated to the UK then to the US. He graduated from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Math and joined the US Peace Corps where he taught math in Zimbabwe for 2 years. He attained a double M.A. in Film and International Relations at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. The double M.A. was funded by the Fellowship in Area Studies in the Tamil language. He has worked as an interactive producer at A&E Television, and a Producer for The Biography Channel. He has also worked as a Product Manager for ABC Television and the Wall St. Journal. Currently, he is in the Universal Pictures Leadership Program a unique initiative within the Motion Pictures group at Universal Pictures that fosters and develops creative talent.
