2005 has been another year of wonderful IAAC events culminating in superb fall programs in quick succession: an exciting book launch of Salman Rushdie's new thriller/love story "Shalimar the Clown", Mallika Sarabhai's "Hot Talas, Cool Rasas" dance concert, the fabulous Fifth IAAC Film Festival, Javed Akhtar's inspired rendition of "shairi", Satish Joshi'sgentle exhibition "The Reflection Series", culminating in Dr. Salman Akhtar's "Freud along the Ganges".

It is time to take stock, to thank you for your generous support and to request you to please help us continue providing New York - and you - with wonderful quality programming while simultaneously showcasing both established as well as young, emerging talent.

Classical dance mingled with Mallika Sarabhai’s socially conscious choreography engaged audiences at the Alvin Ailey Theatre for three consecutive nights!

Fifth Annual IAAC Film Festival November 2-6 - An inspired opening night screening of Deepa Mehta’s Water at the Lincoln Center followed by a fabulous line-up of shorts, documentaries and features, including a tribute to Ismail Merchant, at the Anthology Film Archives enthralled a diverse audience.

Wine, candlelight and shairi by lyricist, poet Javed Akhtar captivated a packed auditorium at the Rubin Museum
Shashi Tharoor’s Bookless in Baghdad - June 28
The Indo-American Arts Counil and the Rubin Museum of Art cohosted a reception on June 28th, 2005 in honor of Shashi Tharoor's "Bookless in Baghdad: Reflections on Literature, Writing & Writers." The wide-ranging volume contains essays on Winston Churchill, V.S. Naipaul, R.K. Narayan, and Salman Rushdie, as well a discussion of Hollywood and Bollywood.
Playwright’s Week 2005 - June 10-18
For the past three years, The IAAC has partnered with the Lark Play Development Center and with several theatres in the New York South Asian Diaspora Community to produce an annual South Asian Diaspora Playwrights Festival.
