Indo-American Arts Council is seeking to hire curatorial interns for summer and fall 2009. IAAC organizes an annual exhibit titled "Erasing Borders" that travels to major venues on the Tri-state area. The venues for this year include the Queens Museum, the Aicon gallery in Manhattan, the Crossing Art gallery in Flushing, the Dowd Fine Arts Center in SUNY-Cortland, and the Penn State College in Pennsylvania. EB 09 comprised of almost 60 works by 27 artists of the South Asian Diaspora. This juried exhibit is a major curatorial endeavor that involves an entire gamut of tasks from the curatorial team. These include but are not limited to facilitating the jury process, liaising with venues, and managing communications with artists, receiving artworks, unpacking and installing artworks, unpacking and re-packing artworks and transporting them to the next venue. Simultaneously, coordinating design and printing of catalogs and postcards, check lists, price lists, press releases, labels, media lists, and other materials are prepared each year for the EB exhibit.
We are seeking 3 highly motivated interns who can hit the ground running. This is an invaluable opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in organizing a major international traveling exhibit based out of New York. If you are an organized, detail-oriented person, with some experience in organizing exhibitions, we would like to hear from you.
