Erasing Borders: Festival of Indian Dance, August 18-21 2008
  
PERFORMERS   
  Dr. Janaki Rangarajan (Alexandria, VA)
  Dr. Janaki Rangarajan, a senior disciple of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam for more than 23 years, started learning Bharatanatyam from her illustrious Guru at age four. She performed her Arangetram at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai, India in 1993 and since then, has given numerous solo and group recitals all over India and around the world. During her years with Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Janaki performed in many solo and group concerts across India and in Thailand. In 2004, Janaki started her dance school "Nrityaniketan" in Alexandria, Virginia. Janaki is a member of the Indian Dance Educators Association in the Washington D.C. area and is also proficient in South Indian Carnatic vocal music and Veena (a string instrument). Janaki has a doctorate in Molecular Genetics and was a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health. Website: www.nrityaniketan.com
