DO DOONI CHAR- Curtain Raiser at the NYIFF
09 March , 2011

DO DOONI CHARBollywood Chaska News Network 2:45 PM IST March 9

Rishi and Neetu Kapoor are a proud couple. Besides the fact that their son Ranbir is making a big name in the industry, their own film DO DOONI CHAR will now open at the New York Indian Film Festival. This is after a span of almost 25 years that the couple have come together for a full-fledged role.

The film did well in India too, and Rishi Kapoor had won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for the movie. DDC is directed by Habib Faisal, and is made by Disney. The story talks about a middle-class family trying its best to buy a car. The film will make you tickle, and is a simple portrayal of the everyday middle-class life.

The Opening Night will see Neetu, Rishi and Faisal attending the premiere on May 4.

‘Do Dooni Chaar is a charming and sweet indie film that reflects the realities of a middle-class family in modern day Delhi,’ says NYIFF Director Aseem Chhabra.

‘Written and directed by first time filmmaker Habib Faisal, the film is a perfect blend of authentic dialogues, characters and situations, with a touch of Bollywood charm. It is a great example of India’s new emerging cinema that has an indie soul, but working within the framework of Bollywood.’

The eleventh NYIFF has three basic themes- independent cinema, social cinema and a tribute to the legendary poet Rabindranath Tagore.

We hope that Neetu and Rishi Kapoor do more films together.
