The 19th edition of the festival ended with an awards night on 12 May. Sunny Pawar (Chippa) was chosen Best Child Actor.

Rohena Gera’s Sir, director Ritesh Batra, actor Adinath Kothare and actress Tillotama Shome walked away with the big awards on the closing night of the 19th edition of the New York Indian Film Festival on Sunday.

The American festival was held from 7–12 May and opened with Gera's film about a maid falling for her employer. Chef Vikas Khanna's directorial debut The Last Color, starring Neena Gupta, was the closing film.

Kothare’s Marathi film Paani, produced by Priyanka Chopra, had its world premiere at the festival. Sapna Bhavnani's directorial debut Sindhustan won Best Documentary honours. The film also had its world premiere at the festival.
