Moderated by a literary agent, panelists on this session include editors and a publicity manager from mid to large publishing houses. Attendees will learn about the entire publishing process from industry experts and walk away with valuable tips to better understanding complexities and nuances in publishing. From the editorial process to marketing and PR, these experts will explain how authors can improve their chances of being published by an established house, and what authors can do to successfully market books, once their books have been published.
 
Jaya Chatterjee
Jaya ChatterjeeJaya Aninda Chatterjee is Associate Editor for World History, Geopolitics, and International Relations at Yale University Press. Her authors include scholars at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, and other universities, policy analysts at the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Council on Foreign Relations, and award-winning long-form journalists. Her books have been favorably reviewed in Dissent, Arts & Letters Daily, the Guardian, the Literary Review, and other publications.

Jaya is a graduate of Wellesley College, Columbia University, and the Yale Publishing Course, has spoken on panels about book publishing at Yale, Georgetown University, and American University, and has contributed book reviews and review essays to the Times Literary Supplement, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and NPR.org. A panel of judges from Publishers Weekly magazine, the Frankfurt Book Fair, and other industry leaders recently named her one of the forty most promising publishing professionals as part of their Star Watch program, and profiled her in PW.
 

 
Emer Flounders
Emer FloundersEmer Flounders is the publicity manager for the MIRA Books and Park Row Books imprints at Harlequin, where he specializes in fiction. He has over a decade of publicity experience, having worked previously at publishers like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Simon & Schuster. He has had the pleasure of working with Pulitzer Prize winners, Nobel laureates, James Beard-recognized chefs, and Hollywood stars. He is a graduate of New York University and lives in New York City.
   

 
Trish Daly
Trish DalyTrish Daly is an editor at Little, Brown, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. She recently embarked on a new adventure as part of the founding editorial team for James Patterson’s BookShots line, helping to launch a new initiative with one of the most read and innovative authors publishing today. Prior to joining Hachette as Editor in 2016, Trish spent her publishing career at HarperCollins with over five years at the William Morrow imprint, where she edited and contributed to a wide variety of titles and authors, from mystery/thrillers to memoir to narrative nonfiction, journalism, and cultural history.

She has edited award-winning crime novelist Lou Berney, author of the Edgar Award-winning The Long and Faraway Gone; professional runner Becky Wade’s Run the World: My 3,500-Mile Journey Through Running Cultures Around the Globe; and the recentNew York Times bestseller Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly, about the African-American women who worked as mathematicians at NASA during the space race, which was adapted for a film to release in 2017.
Trish is a graduate of Boston College and the New York University Summer Publishing Institute and lives in Brooklyn.
