| THIS weekend, Indians in New York City – and patrons of the arts who are in the Big Apple for the Frieze Art Fair – will bid adieu to one of the champions of Indian art and culture, Aroon Shivdasani. The elegant executive director of the Indo-American Arts Council will soon be retiring from her post. And the event, it is both her farewell as well as a film festival and also marks 20 years of the Indo-American Arts Council, will be a fundraiser. Guests have been invited to sail around Manhattan in the Cornucopia Majesty Yacht at the Henry Hudson Parkway. There will be a jazz band and gourmet dinner as well a live auction. Salman Rushdie, Mira Nair, Suketu Mehta, Madhur Jaffrey, Aasif Mandvi, Ayad Akhtar, Tracey Jackson, Sakina Jaffrey and James Ivory are among those expected.. |
