Monsoon Wedding to go on Broadway
by Shyama Sudra
'Monsoon Wedding'

Monsoon Wedding

It was a film that represented authenticity and a somewhat sense of realism. Mira Nairs Monsoon Wedding (2001) became a huge success when it released, and apparently, it is now set to make its way on stage.

According to India Today, original screen writer Sabrina Dhawan is in the midst of setting the stage to tell the story about a the lives, of a close knit family who come together to celebrate their daughters wedding.

Set to be performed at a New York venue, news has it the Dhawan will be talking with Nair about the transition during their public in conversational event, that will be a part of the 2nd Annual Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) Literary Festival in NY.

Set to perform in 2016, reports have it that Vishal Bharadwaj has composed a selection of 12 songs for the show. As the film doeasnt include any type of lip-synched songs, it will be interesting to see, how Dhawan will add these songs in a way, so that it doesnt take away the essence of the story itself.

The film starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shefali Shah, Lillete Dubey, Vijay Raaz and Randeep Hooda to name a few.
