5:00 PM A Panel Discussion on The Position Of The Artist In A State Of Plurality
Since Duchamp, the world of art gained the ability to thoroughly improvise. This temperamental ability extends into both craft and concept within the art making process. Whereas once the artist was also the craftsperson, we cannot accept this as a given today; we merely think of it as a symptom of our pluralistic art-world. As that world has grown exponentially over the last 25 years, the extent and relevance of that plurality cannot be overstated. This talk will roam the interconnected territories of craft, concept and practice in reference to authorship, validity, and identitarianism in art making, and explore the relevance of the position of the artist in a state of plurality.
